Silylation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010869
A chemical reaction that introduces silicon-containing groups, specifically silyl groups, into a molecule or onto a surface. In polymer chemistry, this process often involves the reaction of a polymer with a silylating agent to modify its properties, such as hydrophobicity or thermal stability. Silylation is frequently used in the fabrication of silicon-based materials and in surface functionalization.
