Silyl radicals
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013558
Molecular entities containing an unpaired electron localized primarily on a silicon atom. These highly reactive species are analogous to carbon-centered radicals but exhibit distinct reactivity due to the larger size and different electronegativity of silicon. Silyl radicals are often involved in radical chain reactions and polymerization processes.
