Secondary radical

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010627

A free radical in which the unpaired electron is located on a carbon atom that is bonded to two other carbon atoms. This carbon atom also has one hydrogen atom attached. Such radicals are generally more stable than primary radicals but less stable than tertiary radicals due to hyperconjugation and inductive effects.
