Singular value decomposition
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010910
A matrix factorization technique that decomposes a matrix into three simpler matrices: a unitary matrix, a diagonal matrix of singular values, and another unitary matrix. This mathematical operation is widely used in chemometrics for data compression, noise reduction, and identifying underlying patterns in multivariate data. It can reveal the principal components of a data set, such as in principal component analysis.
