Space velocity

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011072

A measure of the rate at which a fluid passes through a reactor or over a catalyst bed, expressed as the volumetric flow rate of the fluid divided by the volume of the reactor or catalyst. It indicates how many reactor volumes of fluid are processed per unit time. Space velocity is often reported in units of reciprocal time, such as h⁻¹.
