Spheronisation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011189
A pharmaceutical manufacturing process used to produce spherical particles, or pellets, from a wet mass of material. This technique typically involves an extruder to form cylindrical rods, followed by a spheronizer that breaks the rods and rounds them into uniform spheres. The resulting pellets offer improved flow properties and controlled release characteristics for drug delivery.
