Standard amount concentration
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011280
A conventional reference value of amount concentration, written c° and usually set at 1 mol dm-3, used to make concentrations dimensionless in thermodynamic expressions. It fixes the standard state of a solute on the concentration scale and appears in Sørensen's original pH definition, pH = -lg(c_H/c°). The molality-based counterpart, m°, is 1 mol kg-1.
