Survivorship curve
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011694
A graphical representation of the number of individuals in a population that can be expected to survive to any specific age. The plot displays the logarithm of the number of survivors on the y-axis against age on the x-axis, starting with a cohort of a given size. Ecologists distinguish three main patterns: Type I curves show low mortality until old age, Type II shows constant mortality, and Type III shows high initial mortality.
