System

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013632

A specifically defined part of the universe, such as a patient, an organ, or a sample, that is under investigation in a clinical chemistry context. The properties and components within this boundary are measured and analyzed to provide diagnostic information. In laboratory medicine reports, the system is explicitly named, for example, 'Patient' for a blood glucose test or 'Urine' for a creatinine measurement, followed by the component and the kind of quantity.
