Thigmotaxis

A behavioral response in which an organism tends to move towards or maintain contact with solid surfaces or objects in its environment. This behavior is often observed in rodents, which prefer to explore along the walls of an arena rather than the open center. It is a form of taxis, a directed movement in response to a stimulus.
