Torsade de pointes
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012123
A specific, life-threatening form of polymorphic ventricular tachycardia characterized by a distinctive electrocardiogram (ECG) pattern. The QRS complexes appear to twist around the isoelectric baseline, showing a progressively changing amplitude and axis. This arrhythmia is associated with a prolonged QT interval on the ECG and can be induced by certain medications, electrolyte imbalances, or congenital syndromes.
