Ultrasonic nebulizers
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012399
Devices that generate a fine aerosol from a liquid sample by using high-frequency ultrasonic vibrations. A piezoelectric transducer converts electrical energy into mechanical vibrations, which create standing waves in the liquid, leading to the formation of a mist. These nebulizers are often used in atomic spectroscopy techniques, such as inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES), to introduce samples efficiently into the plasma.
