Value of a division

The change in the quantity being measured that causes the pointer or indicator of an analog measuring instrument to move by one division on its scale. For a digital instrument, it is the change that causes the last significant figure of the displayed value to change by one unit. The value of a division is expressed in the units of the measured quantity, such as volts per division or pH units per division.
