Hyper-threading
Term · Computing and IT · MLC-T-CMP-000553
Intel's proprietary implementation of simultaneous multithreading that presents a single physical processor core as two logical processors to the operating system. Each logical processor handles a separate computational thread, sharing the physical core's execution resources to process tasks in parallel. The performance gain is workload-dependent and does not double the core's power, with typical improvements ranging from negligible to around 30 percent.
