Synchronous Dynamic Random-Access Memory, a type of memory that synchronizes its interface with the system's main clock signal. This synchronization allows it to queue up one instruction while another is being executed, leading to higher data transfer rates than asynchronous DRAM. Successive generations, known as Double Data Rate (DDR) SDRAM, further increased performance by transferring data on both the rising and falling edges of the clock signal.
