Anticathode

The target electrode in an X-ray tube, typically made of a high atomic number material like tungsten or molybdenum. When high-energy electrons strike the anticathode, they decelerate rapidly, producing X-rays through bremsstrahlung radiation and characteristic X-ray emission. This component is also known as the anode in X-ray tube terminology.
