Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002045
A device, often found on motorcycles or older carbureted engines, that temporarily increases the fuel-to-air ratio in the engine's intake mixture. It is used to aid cold starting by providing a richer fuel mixture, which is necessary for combustion when the engine is cold. This is distinct from a choke, which restricts air flow.
