Cold-blooded
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006871
Describing an engine that is difficult to start or runs poorly when its internal components are at ambient temperature. The condition is characterized by stalling, hesitation, or rough idling until the engine reaches its normal operating temperature. This behavior is more pronounced in older carbureted vehicles than in modern fuel-injected engines, which use sensors to adjust the air-fuel mixture for cold starts.
