Cold short

Describing a metal that is brittle and prone to fracture at room temperature or low temperatures. This condition is often caused by impurities such as phosphorus or sulfur, which form brittle phases at grain boundaries. Cold shortness makes a material difficult to work or deform without cracking when cold.
