Cold flow
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001224
The gradual deformation of a material under sustained stress at temperatures below its recrystallization point. This phenomenon, also known as creep, is particularly relevant for polymers and some metals. Cold flow can lead to dimensional changes and loss of sealing integrity over time, especially in gaskets and seals.
