Etendue
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002090
A measure of the 'light-gathering power' of an optical system, representing the product of the area of the light source and the solid angle into which the light is emitted. It quantifies the geometric extent of a light beam and remains constant throughout an ideal optical system. Etendue is expressed in units of area times solid angle, such as square meters steradians (m²sr).
