Prism

A geometric solid with two identical and parallel bases, and sides that are parallelograms. In construction, prisms are often used in surveying instruments, such as total stations, to reflect laser beams for distance and angle measurements. The accuracy of these measurements depends on the precise optical properties of the prism.
