A distinctive glaze effect on ceramics, particularly popular in West German pottery from the 1960s and 1970s, characterized by a thick, bubbly, and textured surface resembling molten rock. This effect is achieved through the application of glazes with high concentrations of certain minerals that blister and separate during firing. The resulting surface is highly tactile and often features contrasting matte and glossy areas.
