Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001412
A decorative effect in ceramic glazes characterized by a network of fine cracks that appear on the surface after firing. This effect is intentionally created by designing a glaze with a different coefficient of thermal expansion than the clay body, causing it to shrink more upon cooling. The cracks are often enhanced by rubbing pigment into them.
