Truité
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006211
A fine, web-like network of cracks in the glaze of a finished ceramic piece, resembling the markings on a trout's skin. This effect, also known as crazing or crackle, results from a mismatch in the thermal expansion coefficients between the glaze and the ceramic body, causing the glaze to contract more than the body during cooling. While sometimes an unintentional defect, it is often created deliberately for decorative purposes in certain styles of pottery.
