Craze
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001429
A network of fine, hairline cracks that appear on the surface of a ceramic glaze after firing. This defect occurs when the glaze contracts more than the clay body during cooling, creating tensile stress. Crazing can be minimized by matching the thermal expansion coefficients of the glaze and the clay body.
