Feather

A thin, projecting strip of wood or other material, often integral to a joint or component. It can refer to the tongue of a tongue-and-groove joint, or a thin, tapered piece used to fill a gap or reinforce a connection. Feathers are designed to provide alignment and increase the surface area for glue adhesion.
