Gain
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002498
A measure of an antenna's ability to direct or concentrate radio frequency energy in a particular direction. It is expressed as the ratio of the power radiated in the direction of maximum intensity to the power that would be radiated by a reference antenna, such as an isotropic radiator, with the same input power. Antenna gain is a dimensionless ratio but is typically specified in decibels relative to an isotropic source (dBi) or a half-wave dipole (dBd).
