Gain
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005863
A measure of a radar or radio antenna's ability to direct or concentrate a radio frequency signal in a particular direction. It quantifies how much more power is transmitted or received in the direction of peak radiation compared to a theoretical isotropic antenna, which radiates equally in all directions. Antenna gain is expressed in decibels relative to an isotropic source (dBi) or a half-wave dipole (dBd).
