Gamma
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002506
A measure of the ratio of specific heat at constant pressure to specific heat at constant volume for a gas, often denoted by the Greek letter γ or κ. This adiabatic index is a dimensionless quantity used in thermodynamics to describe the behavior of gases during adiabatic processes. For dry air at room temperature, gamma is approximately 1.4.
