Propagation constant
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-004527
A complex number that describes how an electromagnetic wave changes in amplitude and phase as it travels through a medium. It consists of an attenuation constant, which quantifies the signal loss, and a phase constant, which indicates the phase shift per unit length. This constant is wavelength-dependent and characterizes the transmission properties of cables and waveguides.
