Hunting cog

An additional tooth added to one of a pair of meshing gears to prevent the same teeth from repeatedly contacting each other. This design feature distributes wear evenly across all teeth, extending the lifespan of the gears. The number of teeth on the two gears must be relatively prime for a hunting cog to be effective.
