Lambrequin

A decorative border or drapery-like motif, often with points or scallops, applied to the upper part of a ceramic vessel or architectural element. In industrial ceramics, this design is transferred onto the piece before the final firing and glazing process. The pattern is a feature of specific historical styles, such as Delftware, where it appears as a painted blue design on a white background.
