Large scale integration
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-003253
The process of embedding thousands of transistors onto a single integrated circuit, representing a specific generation of microchip complexity. Large scale integration (LSI) technology, developed in the mid-1970s, enabled the creation of the first microprocessors and memory chips. LSI circuits contain between 3,000 and 100,000 logic gates or the equivalent in transistor count.
