Small Scale Integration
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-005394
The earliest level of integrated circuit technology, characterized by having up to 10 logic gates or a few dozen transistors on a single chip. These circuits were used to build basic logic functions like AND, OR, NOT, and flip-flops. SSI chips, such as those in the 7400-series of transistor-transistor logic, were superseded by Medium Scale Integration (MSI), which contains 10 to 100 gates per chip.
