Very large scale integration
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006441
The process of creating an integrated circuit by combining hundreds of thousands to billions of transistors onto a single silicon chip. This level of miniaturization followed large-scale integration (LSI) and enabled the development of complex microprocessors and high-density memory chips. The transition to VLSI technology began in the 1980s, with transistor counts exceeding 100,000 per chip.
