LSI
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-003451
The process of integrating thousands of transistors onto a single silicon chip, representing a stage in the development of integrated circuits. Large-Scale Integration (LSI) enabled the creation of early microprocessors and memory chips, forming the basis for programmable logic controllers and other digital industrial controls. LSI circuits contain between 3,000 and 100,000 logic gates or the equivalent transistor count, placing them between Medium-Scale Integration (MSI) and Very Large-Scale Integration (VLSI).
