Proximity effect
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-004543
A phenomenon in which the current distribution within a conductor is altered by the presence of nearby alternating magnetic fields from other conductors. This effect causes current to concentrate in specific areas, increasing the effective resistance of the conductor and leading to higher power losses. It is particularly noticeable at high frequencies and in bundles of wires.
