RIMM
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-004856
A Rambus in-line memory module, the card format that carries RDRAM chips for the Rambus memory channel in PCs from about 1999 to the early 2000s. Because the channel runs through every module in series, each unused RIMM slot had to be filled with a continuity module (C-RIMM), a dummy card with no memory chips. RDRAM offered high bandwidth but cost more than SDRAM and DDR memory, and the format faded by the mid-2000s.
