Roofbolter

A specialized piece of mining equipment used to install roof bolts into the rock strata above a mine opening. The machine drills holes into the mine roof, inserts long steel bolts, and then tightens them to bind the rock layers together, creating a self-supporting beam. Modern roofbolters are automated systems integrated with continuous miners, capable of installing bolts up to 20 feet long.
