Slaggable

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-005340

Describing a material or impurity that can be effectively separated from a molten metal by forming a molten slag layer. This characteristic is desirable in smelting operations, as it allows for the removal of unwanted components through chemical reactions with fluxing agents. The resulting slag, being less dense, floats on top of the molten metal for easy removal.
