Slagger

A worker in a foundry or smelter whose job is to remove slag, the impurities that float on the surface of molten metal. Using long-handled rakes, skimmers, or ladles, the slagger clears the slag from the furnace, crucible, or ladle before the metal is poured. This task is performed at extremely high temperatures and requires specialized personal protective equipment, including aluminized coats and face shields.
