SMF
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-005406
A type of optical fiber, Single-Mode Fiber, designed to carry light directly down the fiber without internal reflection. This is achieved with a very narrow core diameter, typically between 8 and 10.5 micrometers. Because it eliminates modal dispersion, SMF supports higher bandwidth and longer transmission distances than multi-mode fiber, making it suitable for long-haul telecommunications.
