Wood obtained from coniferous trees, which are characterized by needles or scales and cones. These trees, such as pine, spruce, and fir, generally grow faster than hardwoods and have a simpler cellular structure. Softwoods are widely used in construction for framing, plywood, and paper production, with common species like Douglas fir having a density of approximately 530 kg/m³.
