Symplectic

Describing a type of intergrowth texture in minerals where two distinct mineral phases are intimately intergrown in a regular, often vermicular or lamellar, pattern. This texture forms during exsolution or replacement processes, where one mineral replaces another while maintaining a crystallographic relationship. Examples include myrmekite, a symplectic intergrowth of quartz and plagioclase feldspar.
