T-ray
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006164
A common name for terahertz radiation, a form of electromagnetic wave occupying the spectrum between microwave and infrared light. T-rays can penetrate many non-metallic materials like plastics, ceramics, and clothing, making them suitable for non-destructive inspection and security screening. Unlike X-rays, the low photon energy of terahertz radiation makes it non-ionizing and safe for biological tissues.
