Trap crop

A plant species grown to attract agricultural pests away from a main crop, thereby protecting the desired harvest. The trap crop is planted either around the perimeter or interspersed within the primary crop. Once pests are concentrated on the trap crop, they can be more easily managed or destroyed, reducing damage to the cash crop.
