Ultra low frequency
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006304
The band of electromagnetic radiation with frequencies in the range of 300 hertz to 3 kilohertz, corresponding to wavelengths from 1,000 to 100 kilometers. Due to their ability to penetrate conductive materials like seawater and earth, these long wavelengths are used for specialized communication systems. Ultra low frequency (ULF) transmissions are employed for communication with submarines and in geophysical surveys.
