Pregnancy Discrimination Act (PDA) of 1978

A federal law that amended Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, prohibiting discrimination based on pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions. Employers must treat pregnant employees the same as other employees with temporary disabilities for all employment-related purposes, including benefits and leave. This act applies to employers with 15 or more employees.
