State average weekly wage (SAWW)

The average weekly earnings of workers in a particular state, calculated and published by state labor departments. This figure is used as a benchmark to determine maximum and minimum workers' compensation benefit rates for temporary total disability, permanent partial disability, and other benefits. The SAWW is updated periodically, often annually.
